Modena Motorsports is a racing team based at Zhuhai International Circuit in China. The team is performing in Formula cars, Touring cars and GT cars in both sprint and endurance races, all around Asia and newly in Europe and Middle East.

Team History

In 2005, Wayne Shen & Francis Tjia took the challenge of building a team to prepare two Ferrari 360C into extremely competitive cars. Surrounded by two experienced French motorsports specialists, Pierre Rigaudin and Freddy Verdon, their goal was to join the Hong Kong Supercar club series. After one year of great result, John Shen joined the team with a 3rd Ferrari 360C.

Two years later the team decided to move on with the Ferrari 430C, which they prepared and tuned with the help of their regretted friend driver Allan Simonsen to its optimal performances. In 2007, the team also started to take care of five Formula Renault in addition to their four Ferrari 360C, three Ferrari 430C and one Ferrari 550GTS. Modena Motorsports was already becoming one of the biggest team in Zhuhai.

In 2008, Modena Motorsports joined the Clio Cup China, welcoming brothers Marcel Tjia & Christian Chia. The team was then running with Formula cars, Touring cars & GT cars in GT Asia, Asian Formula Renault and Clio Cup China series.

Looking for more challenges, Modena joined the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in 2010 with three Porsches 997 Cup. With the good performance of the team and drivers, it took them only two years to claim the 2012 Championship Group B title. Open to new drivers since 2014, the team is now running five 991 Cup in PCCA.

Since 2014, the team have successfully step up into Endurance racing with regular participations in Dubai 24h races and in few other races in Asia, Europe and Middle East. Their key achievements include winning the 3 hours of Zhuhai, finishing 3rd in class in the 12h Merdeka race and claiming the victory of the A2 class for their first participation to Silverstone 24h race in 2016. For the first time in 2019, Modena took part in the legendary Total 24h of Spa with two Porsche GT3-R.

In 2016, Modena launched its second base in Asia at the Sepang International Circuit.
